Capital One has announced they are expanding their transfer partners, and improving one airline partner as well. Effective Feb. 4, 2020, you can transfer your Capital One rewards to two new hotel partners — Wyndham Rewards and Accor Live Limitless. In addition, Capital One is improving the transfer ratio to JetBlue TrueBlue.

Capital One Hotel Partners

While Wyndham and Accor are not the most well-known hotel brands, they have a wide variety of properties. With over 9,000 and 3,700 properties respectively, you have a great chance of finding accomodations that fit your needs.

Here are the ratios of the new Capital One transfer partner hotels:

Hotel BrandTransfer Ratio
Accor2 Capital One miles : 1 Accor ALL Rewards points

(1,000 Capital One miles = 500 Accor ALL Rewards points)

Wyndham2 Capital One miles: 1.5 Wyndham Rewards points

(1,000 Capital One miles = 750 Wyndham Rewards points)

Accor and Wyndham both feature a wide range of brands and property styles from budget to ultra-luxury, and everything in between. With Accor’s large presence in Europe and Wyndham here in the United States, you will have plenty of hotels to choose from wherever you go. So next time you book a trip, be sure to check your Capital One miles balance to see if you have enough points for a free stay.

Capital One miles to JetBlue

In addition to the new Capital One transfer partners, Capital One has just increased the ratio of points you receive from 2:1 to 2:1.5. That means 1,000 Capital One miles are now worth 750 TrueBlue points rather than 500. If you've been considering a JetBlue flight with your Capital One miles, it just might be the right time to take that flight.

How Does Capital One’s List of Travel Partners Compare?

Capital One’s list of transfer partners is similar to those of its competitors, Chase, Citi and American Express. However, it’s also important to look at transfer ratios, which affect the value of miles with each transfer partner. With Capital One, miles transfer at a ratio of 2 miles for 1.5 points or miles for the majority of their partners — meaning, you lose about half a mile for each 2 miles that you transfer.

If you are torn on which credit card to apply for, the deciding factor could be which travel partner you are more likely to use. Capital One mainly partners with airlines outside of the United States, so a Capital One rewards card could be the best option for someone who frequently travels internationally. How Do the Changes Affect Miles Value?

Updates to rewards programs often result in points becoming devalued. In this case, Capital One miles value will actually increase in value.

We currently value Capital One miles at 1 cent per point when redeeming for travel. However, with this announcement, along with another recent announcement that Capital One points can be redeemed for Amazon purchases — Capital One looks to be stepping up the competition with American Express and Chase.

Which Capital One Cards Let You Transfer Miles?

There are several cards that earn transferable Capital One miles. However, they are not all uniform in their benefits.

How to Transfer Capital One Miles

Once you earn Capital One miles and want to transfer them, it’s a simple process. First, log in to your Capital One account and select the credit card that you want to transfer miles from.

Then, select the airline or hotel partner that you want to send your miles to. You will be asked to link your loyalty membership number, so be sure to have that information on hand.

Lastly, you will be asked to type in how many miles you would like to transfer. Be sure to double check this as all transfers are final and non-reversible.

Once you confirm the transfer, the points may appear immediately or take a few days. For best practice, give ample time for your miles to transfer.

Is it worth it to transfer Capital One miles?

The short answer to this question is "maybe." Each redemption is unique, so each potential redemption should be calculated individually.

How do you know if transferring Capital One Miles is worth it?

Capital One miles are generally valued around 1 cent per mile — if an award flight/hotel room with any of the Capital One transfer partners is worth at least 1 cent per mile transferred, then it’s worth the transfer. To calculate the value of transferred miles, use this simple equation:

Cash price (minus any taxes and fees that you would have to pay with an award booking) / Number of points or miles needed for flight or hotel stay x 0.5 (2:1 transfer ratio) or 0.75 (2:1.5 transfer ratio) = Value of transfered miles
